MULTAN: Punjab Agriculture Minister Nauman Langrial said that the economy cannot be strengthened without promoting cotton.
Joint efforts were required to enhance cotton productivity. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Cotton Crop Management Group at the Central Cotton Research Institute on Monday.
The minister said that strict monitoring was required to ensure that quality pesticides were being sold across the province. Reviving the cotton industry is part of the governments’s overall objectives and the Punjab government is taking all the possible steps in this regard.
Farmers will be guided on how to cultivate and pick cotton, he said. He added that the government had introduced interest-free loans and insurance schemes for crops.
